At SoLo Eye Care, we strive for perfection in visual clarity and comfort.  Dry eye is one of the most common and bothersome conditions we encounter.  We have successfully treated thousands of patients with dry eye using a combination of medications and surgical procedures.  Dry eye is abnormal; patients should not be forced to accept this condition as a normal part of life.  SoLo Eye Care offers the latest in dry eye management technology including:

  • Punctal occlusion

Punctal occlusion is a simple two-minute procedure that slows the drainage of tears inside the eye.  This procedure involves the insertion of tiny collagen or silicone plugs into the tear ducts in the patient’s upper or lower eyelids.  The procedure is completely painless and may be performed the same day as a patient’s comprehensive exam.  Dr. Bob believes that punctual occlusion is one of the most underutilized procedures in the treatment of dry eye.  This simple in-office procedure can eliminate a patient’s need for repeated instillation of artificial tears and has been able to improve the lifestyle of many of our patients.

  • Nutritional therapy
  • Medical therapy including anti-inflammatory, immunosuppressive therapy, and treatment with autologous serum
  • Specialty dry eye contact lenses including daily disposable contact lenses

Dry eye syndrome is one of the most common eye conditions encountered by eye care practitioners and can often be the first sign of other medical conditions. Dr. Bob Steinmetz is an expert in dry eye management. He has been successful at alleviating many patients’ symptoms as well as aiding in the diagnosis of related systemic conditions. Please contact Dr. Steinmetz if you have any questions regarding the latest in dry eye management or the above in-office procedures.
